Garage Sale Palooza ~

There are garage sales and then there are

GARAGE SALES!!

I found myself at an amazing sale

{very early}

on Saturday morning...

It was FABULOUS...

The kind of sale that makes your heart skip a beat... the excitement when you finally find the house and see the goodies in the driveway... You find a parking spot... but you can barely remember how to put the car in park.... You get out of the car but forget your purse. You realize you need your purse AND your car keys so you can lock the car... You get your keys out of the ignition and slam the car door on your jacket... the jacket you are wearing! You open the car door, release your jacket and tell yourself to "calm down"... You take a breath, you dash to the house... and you almost get run over in the street....

Ya... it was that kind of sale!!!

So, here's my pickings...

I was excited about my finds....
(too excited to take proper photos, sorry about the sun glare)

Love the curvy shape of this large wood sign...

It's DOUBLE SIDED ~
The patina of the green paint
and the chippy white letters....

Each letter is made out of wood...

The top letters are missing...
"Misha's Interiors"

I LOVE the ghosting the missing letters create!

Great patina...

I {think}
I am going to hang this
in the guest room
above the bed...

But,
I need Mr. AntiqueChase's opinion on that.

Um, who am I kidding??
I mean,
I need his help hanging it :)

To all that know me
and have been to my garage...

the very last thing I need
is another oil painting...

But I have a weakness for them... The old crazing paint of a Sunday school painting makes me weak in the knees... If this one hadn't been such a good price, I'm sure I wouldn't have considered it...

The swans spoke to me...
they did!!!

They said...

"Marcy, please take us home
and put us in the Powder Room."

So, I did!

I was also spying this small chippy stool.. But it was in another lady's "PILE"... She was paying for her stuff and then it happened...She decided to put the stool back...

I was watching...
and I was quick...

I'm sure the second she put it down, she saw me pick it up. I hope she didn't regret her decision to put it back. I know the feeling, it happens to me all the time...

So, to the lady with the "pile of good stuff"

I have your blue stool...
but you have my wicker basket...

Sorry.....

I love the turquoise blue color... Just a pop of spring! Small stools like these make great plateaus on tables!

I also purchased some big FRENCH wicker baskets...

Too delicate for carrying laundry
but wonderful to decorate with...

I like to throw blankets in them
or magazines...
Place them on top of an armoire
or just warm up any corner...

I adore the basket weave...These baskets have wood runners underneath... which is a sign of a great basket!

A few hours later, my daughter was hungry for lunch...

So.....
Like any good mom,
I decided to run out and buy her some lunch...
and as luck would have it
I found myself

BACK AT THAT GARAGE SALE...

Want to see what I got in
ROUND TWO???

I'll share MORE TREASURES in my next post :)

Big shout out to my good friend

for alerting me to the sale!!

and...

I won a giveaway
from Kathee at Chateau et Jardin
that I am soooo behind on sharing...

A fabulous subway scroll!

Sorry I am so late but special thanks to

She sells the most amazing treasures at
American Home & Garden
(located in Ventura California)

Just look at her display

I am hanging my subway scroll
in the TV bonus room...

a room I am working on right now!

Thank you Kathee!!!

Please come back for my next post
showing what I purchased at

I know the feeling. I compete in my area with several other women who like what I like at the few sales that are around. Recently, I arrived a few minutes late, and walked past the coolest cement 3" rabbit With a SOLD sign on it. I said as I walked in, "Who took my rabbit???" Of course it was one of the women. We had a good laugh. I did end up with a smaller one....but still..... I did score on a large cement basket so I can't complain too much. So much fun!!!!

That was soooo funny, about slamming your clothes in the door, and leaving your keys and purse in the car. I can totally relate. Those are GREAT finds...!

Marcy, what awesome finds at a garage sale of all places. I wish someone around here had loot like that to sell. Love that sign and its imperfections. Great baskets. Those are quite costly around here.

Your house must be smiling since you brought all of that beautiful stuff in it! That was one great garage sale! Why doesn't anyone have one like that around here? Those wicker baskets you found are usually hard to find and if you do find them, be prepared to pay alot. You scored! Love that cool sign too. You're so lucky to have won one of those subway scrolls too. I love those.

What great finds -- love the baskets! And how clever of you to use a trip to get lunch to take you back!!

I know the feeling...exactly! What awesome finds! That sign is one of the best I've ever seen and I would have been all over that stool too. We do crazy things when the sight of a good yard sale comes into view. I parked right in the middle of the street for a mannequin last month. It would have been gone if I took the time to legally park. Be proud!

aaah Marcy- you did hit the motherlode of garage sales! Love those baskets and that sweet little stool. I know what you mean about losing out AND also winning the prize. It happens to us all, I'm sure. Looking forward to seeing the second round! ~Sue

I know that feeling well- your heart skips a beat, you slow your step so others don't see your excitement, you pretend to look at an item right next to the item you really want... a great sale can make your day!

Love the chippy footstool- so cute!

marcy, I was in Ventura yesterday and saw Kathee's space in person. The store looks good with her things in the window and around the place.
And I get as excited as you when garage sale shopping. I'm very lucky most times, because my husband drives, and I get to jump out while he parks.
This process adds at least 5 minutes to shopping time. I love your buys, and I think you got the better deal with the stool. It's fab!
