Happy New Year Friends!!
Thanks for dropping by today.
There are some rooms in my house that have beautiful morning light. My family room has windows that face South and the morning light warms the entire space... This room is connected to the kitchen and is a wonderful place to have a cup of coffee and plan my day... or in this case, the New Year!
The sun is beaming through the windows,
and reminds me that each new day
{and year}
is filled with possibilities...
My candles seem to glow even though they are not lit...
My iron horse is galloping on the window sill..
Hey what's that under the coffee table??
My new {OLD} chicken crate...
holding my extra family room pillows
Under the window sits an antique desk. It has a wonderful mission style. I adore its antique wicker combined with the patina of old oak. It displays ever-changing vignettes...
My favorite antique tole lamp...
If you look closely
you can see the metal birds on the lamp....
My favorite bird nest and a large glass cloche...
and some succulents in silver!!

Check out that good looking couple in the frame...
They are my maternal grandparents...
I found an old chippy white frame,
scanned the tiny photo
and had it enlarged at Costco.
What a treasure for under $10.00!
More antique books from the thrift store...
purchased for the fleur-de-lis covers.
Our family room windows face the backyard. We have no privacy issues (that I'm currently aware of) so the windows remained uncovered. No window treatments. Luckily, the morning sunlight light does not provide any glare on the TV... oh, and did you notice that we have a new TV?? I was resisting the BIG television, but hubby won...
{You can read the prior post here}
He wanted to hang the new TV on the wall and loose the hutch... That was a BIG NO... I love to display books on the hutch... so we compromised... He got his TV and I still have my hutch...
Inside the hutch, I have junk the stereo components
and some fantastic old wood crates.
I didn't find these old boxes...
they found me!!
My sweet next door neighbor is moving away
and when packing up she asked me
if I wanted some
"junky old wood boxes"...
Do I want them??
Is that even a question??
This one holds our CD collection...
If you look closely at the music artists, we look like real rockers!
Hydrangeas in an old crock...
The flowers catch the morning light beautifully!

Oh my that is a fantastic vintage trophy collection. I have been wanting to start collecting these for years. I know what you mean about the large TV battle. I agreed to a "smaller" large TV, and he buys a 60" one. Its a behemoth. :-/ I love your old boxes.
Sunlight changes my entire mood - need it! Happy New Year!
Beautiful Room! I am a native Californian transplanted to the midwest. I miss all the sunshine and warm temps. Thanks for the uplift! Great Trophy collection too! XO Cindy

Hi,
U really have a great house. TY a mill for touring in there.
I am drooling with all ur old crates.
Have a great New Year.
Greetings from Stockholm,
/chie
Girl, you know I love this room! All that sunlight...gorgeous...and your tv fits in your hutch like a glove. Did you have to trim out the shelf? It is perfect! We are fixing to get one too and I vetoed in a BIG way the hanging of the television over my mantel...um, NO! So I am looking for a dresser or a buffet or something along those lines to put it on and hide all those ugly "cords and equipment"....
Hope you are having a great day!
Lou Cinda
What a great room! Sunlight streaming in all through the house is something I miss about our old house. We are in a condo now and one side has no windows. The sunroom is a saving grace as there are seven windows in there and I get quite a bit of light.
Looks beautiful, and I especially love the chicken crate! Totally want one of those!
What a great post...full of all kinds of wonderful things to see and to inspire. Love you vignette on the desk ~ lovely.
I just love this room your right the sun shinning in is just magical!! Happy new year to you my friend!

Love the sun coming in--your photos are lovely! I usually have beautiful sun like this in my house full of windows but Oregon in January there is nothing but clouds and rainclouds. Your post made me feel a little sorry for myself. Thanks for sharing though:)
I always love seeing photos of your beautiful home and all your lovely collections:-)

I love your home. It's so inviting and so many interesting things to look at. I'm very jealous of your wonderful collection of old trophies! I have a few, but mine are small. I would love to find a larger one at a good price!
Happy New Year...Wishing you the very best 2012.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Happy New Year!
Thanks for the lovely tour, and I love the succulents in silver!
Oh my, you have some beautiful pieces! Love the succulents in silver, the chicken crate, the old boxes...so many things!
Love the light. We don't get much here in the winter months. But as I type we have sunlight. It's a beautiful thing, hah.
Love all your touches.
We got a new TV last year. Before it fit in a cabinent where I could shut the door. Not now, but it did fit on top. Not too bad, I guess.
I don't like them hung on the wall.....too hotel like. I know alot of newer homes have them above the fireplace. Not sure about the either. Yours looks fine. Glad you didn't have to get a huge one. That's where I draw the line, he he.
Happy New Year. Thanks for sharing the sunlight.
I love your decor and the trophy collection is one of my favorites..Also love the way you displayed the candles, a great look
