Dedicated to Mr. AntiqueChase:
I purchased this handmade bird house
at the flea market back in November....
It was handmade by a older gentleman who took so much pride in his craftsmanship... I love the chapel shape of this birdhouse, it feels so romantic... It's grand and stands almost 5 feet tall...
When Mr. AntiqueChase asked what I wanted for Valentine's Day I knew exactly what I would like! I asked him if he could put up the new birdhouse in our garden.... I love Valentine's gifts that I can admire all year, like a rosebush or an oil painting... or a birdhouse!!
Yesterday, he went to our neighborhood hardware store and came home with an 8 foot post. He spent a priceless amount of time walking around the garden with me while I decided on the perfect location for the birdhouse.... and when I wasn't sure I had found the perfect spot, he walked around some more. For good measure, he even balanced the heavy bird house on his shoulders so I could visualize how it would look in the air...
He got his shovel and started to dig and dig some more (about two feet down)... Just when he was ready to sink the post, I realized that the 8 foot post might not be tall enough... So, Mr. AntiqueChase and I got back in the car to get a 10 foot post.
When we got home, he sunk the post and used a level to ensure it was straight... Added gravel and a fast dry cement called "Quikrete". You can find this brand at Home Depot and other home improvement stores. It's great because you don't have to mix it... just pour the cement powder in the hole and add water... It sets up perfectly and pretty quick too! (at least that's what Mr. AntiqueChase tells me..)
Today,
I am going to prime and paint the post
so we can attach the birdhouse later tonight...
This has to be one of my FAVORITE
Valentine's Day gifts ever!!!
Valentine's Day gifts ever!!!
Thank you Mr. AntiqueChase!
You are such a wonderful husband...
Everyday with you feels like Valentines...

That is going to look so good on that pole. What a special gift. I prefer things like that, too.
I love your birdhouse! I would rather have something that I can enjoy all year as opposed to candy and flowers that disappear too quickly.
Love the birdhouse...lucky you have a spouse that is so patient!
Your birdhouse is going to be stunning. I can't wait to see it all in place. Fabulous gift. Hugs, Marty
your husband sounds like a doll. the birdhouse is darling, and it's new location is perfect.

That is one really cool birdhouse, Marcy! It's a gift that you'll be able to keep for a long, long time.
Re: your first photo not showing- do you use Live Writer to post? I do and my photo doesn't show up in the blog list feed, either. Apparently it's because that part of Writer isn't compatible w/Blogger. I found this out by contacting Windows Live Writer with this question. I read where someone said she would post thru Writer, then go back into Blogger to add the pic there. Kinda defeats the purpose, I think. I tried it, just to see- but it didn't work for me at all! If you don't post thru Writer, then I don't know why your photo doesn't work in the feeds. Sorry...
:-) Sue
I LOVE your beautiful birdhouse!!Your husband is too sweet to do that for you!:)Happy Valentines Day!!! xo Rachel

Mr. AntiqueChase Rocks!
Love it! And had to laugh, "Our nest is best" is one of my son's favorite books right now! :-)
You go Mr. AntiqueChase. Helping a girl decorate makes her heart go "pitter, patter." And especially when it takes more than once to get it right.
Marcy ~ thanks so much for your sweet comment about my frosted cupcakes. Using a large icing tip that I got with a Wilton Cupcake Frosting Kit makes it soo easy. Now I just need this frosting tube that I saw today on TV instead of having to refill my bag every 3 cupcakes :)
And LOVE that birdhouse. We are finally having warmer weather here and I look forward to working in our yard tomorrow and working on some painting projects.
Blessings to you,
Robin

The birdhouse is adorable, I love it! It's going to look so cute on the pole!!!
When I printed out the picture I used the 5x7 size. My frames are really small, If you were going to use a bigger frame you could go with the 8x10. Hope you will try it, so easy :)

I collect birdhouses, so I totally get finding the exactly right place for it. You are lucky that your ground is not frozen so that you could install it and you are fortunate to have a mister patient enough to drag it around. Good job both of you!
