Today, I am taking you inside my dining room for closer look at some of my collected treasures. {You can click on any photo to enlarge the picture.} All my white dishes were purchased at Salvation Army, Flea Markets or Garage Sales.
My brown transferware is on display year round
but is especially perfect for Fall decorating!
I have a soup tureen addiction...
Lucky for me...
I have found each one
at a flea market or garage sale
A pair of old tole lamps grace each side of my hutch. I have very low watt bulbs in them. I turn them on in the evening as night lights. They are brass and have porcelain flowers. Many of the flowers are chipped and glued. I had them rewired at a lamp store. I always have them use silk cord.
The shades came with the lamps. It looks like silk cording is wrapped around them. When I purchased them the inside silk liner was all ripped and tattered, so I removed it from the shades. I like some wear on my items, but I really dislike tattered shades.
This tureen was purchased over the summer at my favorite flea market. I debated buying it. The lid handle has a repair. The repair was done well and I went for it. I'm so happy with my decision.
A pair of alabaster pedestals are stacked.
They hold delicate paper napkin rings which are shaped like roses.
A little creamer all stained from age...
it holds some porcelain and brass antique utensils
A chunky old pair of salt and pepper shakers
picked up at a Thrift Store...
I have two of these old chairs in the dining room...
I honestly know nothing about them....
other than I LOVE THEM!
A vintage tole chandelier of hydrangeas...
with great patina..
not too rusty
I purchased this from my good friend Liesl
I added the antique bulb covers which my mother gave me...
Here is another view of the dining room....
If you peek closer, you can see my laundry room and wet clothes hanging....
simply lovely! ugh....
A gold gesso mirror picked up at a garage sale...
This was another item I really debated... I was at a garage sale with my husband and we apparently didn't want to spend the money on it. When I got home, I thought about the mirror some more and decided it would look really good in the dining room. I got back in the car (alone) and hoped it was still there.... when I pulled up, my heart was racing.. it was still there...whew...disaster adverted! {Edited to add: My husband loves the mirror.}
Antique cobbler's shoe cart
turned tea cart...
you can read about that by clicking here
Two antique bird botanicals purchased from a friend's garage
A peacock and a turkey (I think...)
I have a pair of vintage ivy tole sconces...
they grace each side of an arch
My farmhouse table...
View looking thru the dining room and into the kitchen...
My centerpiece changes all the time...
Today,
I have an old wood crate
filled with drift wood
some antique bottles
and an ivy thrown in for good measure....
I also have this...
I have been breaking so many things lately!!
I guess that's what happens when you move stuff all the time!
Do you think I can glue it??
I hope you will consider following my blog.

Thanks for the tour of your drop dead gorgeous diningroom. I am in love with it all. The chandelier is stunning and your collection of white pottery and china makes my heart sing!
hugs
Sissie
I love your dining room. Every bit of it. I adore the 2 chairs, and am jealous . The tablescape is perfect. I think you should glue that piece back together. It should be fun doing it, like a jigsaw puzzle. I broke a prized beautiful floral bowl, years ago, and glued it back together. It was in my hutch, where I used to live, and nobody could tell the difference. I still have it, and am really glad. I bought it at a time when money was pretty tight, but I was working hard and felt like I deserved something beautiful.
The room is so warm & inviting! I especially love the two chairs, what a find. I like how you have your white pieces displayed ~ I am definitely lacking in the china display talent department :) Really, really love the brown & white pieces. We have a number of them as well that were wedding gifts, but they are all huge, so I have nowhere to put them! I'm always happy to see that you have a new post up!
Gorgeous dining room! Your white dish collection is amazing! I have a collection of white dishes but it's not as impressive. I love to collect dishes and white in particular.

So dreamy! You make me want to go antique shopping! Love everything about your dining room!
Good Morning: Your diningroom is so elegant! I can imagine it set for a delicious holiday meal. You have the most exquisite collection of tole lamps. No matter how hard I search for them, they're almost impossible for me to find. Wishing you a great day!
Lisa@SuburbanRetreat
Okay, when my dining room grows up I wish it looked like yours! Gorgeous!! Love that hutch.

So serene and peaceful, yet full of eye candy...what a beautiful dining room! I love all your white dishes in that gorgeous hutch.
I would have nabbed that mirror to...it's awesome. Sorry about your broken dish; I hate it when that happens!
What a lovely room! Thanks for sharing.
No words to describe this gorgeous space!! LOVE IT!
What a gorgeous collection you have! Very lovely finds. You are definitely a "chaser" :) Thanks for poppin on over and checking me out too! I love my hubby also, but try to stay clear of him taggin along with me on my hunts. #1 - I dont need another opinion other than mine, and #2 - I dont wanna share my precious cargo room with him! He is a thing collector too....be lucky you get to do whatever you want with your home! :D ~Lolo
ps - I am uber jealous over that cobbler cart! What a find!!
Beautiful room! I do love shopping with my husband and most of the time we're on the same page. But yes, sometimes he does have a different opinion than I do of what's necessary in our lives.
Your dining room is so beautiful and elegant! Just another proof that you don't have to buy real expensive dishes, and can really do a great job decorating on a budget, if you have the talent for it. I enjoyed viewing all your photos.
-marie :)
your dining room is one of my favorite rooms in your house. So lovely and inviting!

I just love your dining room! It is gorgeous.I love your chairs, and everything you have!!....Kathy
I love your dining room. That hutch is so grand and I love your collections in it. I only have two tureens, but am on the look out for more. Love the natural centerpiece and those blue chairs are fantabulous! I had never heard of bulb sleeves. I love them. Very unique chandelier.
Love that hutch and all your whites!! Great mirror- funny how you went back for it after the hubs wasn't too keen on buying it. It happened to me only once- I went back for something, but it was gone. After that, I told Mr. S I was just buying it- period!! I rarely see bulb sleeves- they must really be rare around these parts.
hugs, Sue
OMG...I am so envious of your white ironstone and brown transferware collection...it is gorgeous!!! The side chair next to your hutch is divine...the fabric is just so beautiful! What can I say,I love, love, love your dining room...actually your whole house :o)Everything is just drop dead GORGEOUS!!!!!!!
~Des
Thanks for sharing your beautiful dining room. I also have a love for brown transferware, but don't have a collection like yours! The first thing I thought about when I saw the tureens on top of the china cupboard was possible breakage from an earthquake. Do you secure your pieces?
Your home is so beautiful. The dishes are amazing! I think looking and finding them as bargains makes them seem more like treasures, don't you? I think you will think of some creative way to use those broken pieces...they're too pretty to throw away!!
Oh my goodness,
I am in love with it all!! Your hydrangea chandie is fabulous!! I have one similar that is pink and white roses. But hydrangeas are my favorite!
Your home is just lovely!!
Have a wonderful day!
Sincerely,
Melinda
Love everything! I seem to be collecting a few tureens myself. I always wanted the graduated white pitchers on top of my hutch and finally have it to were I like it. You have wonderful taste in displaying items in your home. Stop by a see me sometime. ~Ames
Everything is just gorgeous.I've just bought my 1st soup tureen and I think I'm addicted..Have a great day..xx
I thought I had seen everything, but that hydrangea chandelier is something else! I have never seen bulb sleeves, either and I am a lamp collector. The "ivy" candle sconces might be something different because they have flowers. I think they might be rare. Have you ever researched them? Who was the artist on your bird prints? I think you got a really good deal. The chairs might be Swedish. Love your room, it is very restful, and totally complete without trying to hard. Ann
You have such lovely treasures! Thank you so much for sharing them with us! I love that tea cart and the lamps! Your hutch is lovely!
Thanks for the tour of your BEAUTIFUL dining room...love all your WHITE dishes and that wonderful centerpiece!

Your Home is gorgeous....Where on earth did you score those French Chairs and Bird Botanicals from???? Wink Wink. Good seeing you today.
I love your chandelier but my husband would never go for it.
I've been thinking about starting a collection (like I need another collection) of brown transfer ware. I was at my favorite thrift store and they had a Johnson Brother coffee pot for $14.99. I thought about it and decided not to get it. When I got home I looked it up on ebay and a few of them had sold recently for over $80! Went back but was too late. So now it's the one that got away.
Chris
PS Really love your mix of old and new!
